On Monday 12 March 2018, a French Delegation of 13 principals, counselors, teachers, from the Regional Direction of Nice-Marseille visited the Regional Direction of Primary and Secondary Education of Central Macedonia, within the European Program ERASMUS+ MOISSON2. Mrs Frédérique Cauchi-Bianchi και Mr Joseph Cesaro were welcomed by the Regional Director of Primary and Secondary Education of Central Macedonia, Mr Panagiotis Ananiadis, the Head of Primary Education of Secondary Education Mrs Maria Syrgianni, the Counselor for French as a Second Language Mrs Varvara Chryssafi, the Press representative Mr Triantafyllos Sermetis, the responsible for the European projects in the Direction Mrs Krystallia Staikou, as well as Mr Panagiotis Stefanopoulos, Head of Personnel and Mrs Matina Sotiraki, Head of Administrative Affairs.

The meeting was held in a collaborative climate and the participants discussed on similarities and differences of the two educational systems (Greek and French), while the bases were set on further collaboration of the two Educational Directions.

On Friday 16 March 2018 a round table was held at the premises of the Regional Direction of Primary and Secondary Education of Central Macedonia with the title: “Modern challenges on European education systems: European identity, Inclusive Education, School Dropout”.

On behalf of the French Delegation, there were two interventions from Mrs Frédérique Cauchi-Bianchi and Mr Joseph Cesaro.

On behalf of the Regional Direction of Central Macedonia, there were interventions from Mrs Syrgianni, Mr Akritidis, Mrs Staikou, Mrs Tsirigoti (Working group for the management, coordination and monitoring of refugee education). Principals and teachers from primary and secondary schools, that the French delegation visited, attended the meeting as well.

Finally, there was an excellent opportunity for both sides to exchange opinions and good practices on the issues set. We hope that this action will be repeated and extended to other fields.

Briefing meeting for the refugee education managing and monitoring group and the project Xenios Zeus group on the material produced within the framework of the European programme ERASMUS+, KA2, XENIOS ZEUS

Main speaker, Mr Ragkos, the regional coordinator of North Greece of the Ministry of Refugee Policy

On the 23rd of November 2017, in the offices of the Regional Directorate of the Primary and Secondary Education of Central Macedonia, the refugee education coordinators were invited to attend a briefing meeting.

The main speaker, Mr Ragkos, the regional coordinator of North Greece and representative of the refugee education managing and monitoring group of the Ministry of Refugee Policy, was invited to inform and answer questions of the refugee education coordinators.

In the second part of the meeting, the material produced by the European Programme Erasmus+, KA2, Xenios Zeus, was presented to the refugee education coordinators by the following members of the group:

  • the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the Department of Primary Education: Ms Ksefteri, Ms Michaloglou
  • the School of Modern Greek Language: Ms Takouda
  • the University of Western Macedonia, Department of Early Childhood Education: Mr Ntinas
  • Diktyo “Alpha”, Center for the Prevention of Addiction and Promotion of Psycho-social Health in Western Thessaloniki: Ms Spyropoulou
  • the Cartographic Heritage Archives, department of the General State Archives of Greece- Historical Archives of Macedonia: Ms Pazarli, Ms Ploutoglou

On the 10th of November 2017, in the offices of the Regional Directorate of the Primary and Secondary Education of Central Macedonia, the school advisors of the primary education and the school advisors of the Greek language teachers in Central Macedonia were invited to attend a briefing meeting with theScientific and Pedagogical Guidance Supervisors of Primary and Secondary Education in the Regional Directorate of Central Macedonia in order to be informed about the material produced within the framework of the European Programme Erasmus+, KA2, Xenios Zeus.

The material was presented by the following members of the group:

  • the School of Modern Greek Language: Ms Takouda, Kokkinidou, Sechidou, Triantafyllidou
  • the University of Western Macedonia, Department of Early Childhood Education: Mr Ntinas

  • the Cartographic Heritage Archives, department of the General State Archives of Greece- Historical Archives of Macedonia: Ms Pazarli, Ms Ploutoglou

The Erasmus+, KA2, with the title “Managing the refugee and migrant flows through the development of educational and vocational frames for children and adults”, with the acronym “Xenios Zeus”, and the contract number 2016-1-EL01-KA201-023512 is realized in the following 2 years, from 01/09/2016 to 31/08/2018.The coordinator of the project is the Regional Directorate of Primary and Secondary Education of Central Macedonia and its partners are: 1) the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, both the Department of Primary Education and the School of Modern Greek Language, 2) the University of Western Macedonia, Department of Early Childhood Education, 3) the University of Aix-Marseille, ESPE France, 4) H.R.Y.O,  Human Rights Youth Organization, Palermo, Italy, 5) Municipality of Paionia, Polykastro, Kilkis, 6) Municipality of Delta, Diavata, 7) Diktyo “Alpha”, Center for the Prevention of Addiction and Promotion of Psycho-social Health in Western Thessaloniki, 8) the Cartographic Heritage Archives, department of the General State Archives of Greece- Historical Archives of Macedonia.

The dissemination seminar meeting took place on (date) in the Anagnostopoulou camp in the municipality of Delta. The meeting was attended by Mr. Akritidis, the Scientific and Pedagogical Guidance Supervisor of Primary Education in the Regional Directorate of Primary and Secondary Education of Central Macedonia, who saluted the partners and the proceedings of the meeting, Ms Oikonomidou, Refugee Reception and Identification employee in the Ministry of Refugee Policy, Mr Papadopoulos, Refugee Education Coordinator, teachers, school principals, school advisors, NGO members, which work in the camp, representatives of the partners of the project, such as Ms Mitakidou from the Department of Primary Education in Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Ms Matthaioudaki and Ms Koutousi from the Department of Early Childhood Education in Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Mr Gkanakas from the University of Western Macedonia, Ms Spyropoulou and Ms Zountouridou from Diktyo “Alpha”, Ms Ploutoglou and Ms Pazarli from the Cartographic Heritage Archives, as well as the project coordinators Mr Amanatidis and Ms Staikou.

During the meeting, after the partners were presented, it was the “Welcome Guide”, which was presented. The “Welcome Guide” was prepared by the Universities and is addressed to the refugee-students of all ages and all educational levels (nurses, primary school students, adults 18+). Then, the seminars beginning in April 2017 were announced. The seminars will be implemented by the universities, Diktyo “Alpha” and the Cartographic Heritage Archives and are addressed to the teachers of all specializations so that they can teach voluntarily to refugees, both children and adults in the camps within the framework of informal education.
